Canine Teeth Cleaning
In dogs, just like us humans, can have tooth decay. A dog’s teeth should be cleaned at least twice a week. Feeding him dry kibbled dog foods and giving him plenty of big bones to chew and play on, is one way in keeping their teeth healthy.
There are two common dog teeth problem that can happen, loose teeth and an abscess tooth. Does he have bad breath? Studies show that more than 95 % of dogs with bad breath or halitosis are suffering from an oral disease, it is a result of build up of plaque. If untreated, it can lead to a bacterial infection, which can enter the dog’s bloodstream and spread to their vital organs. Most probably if your dog has bad breath, there is a problem with his teeth.
There are many different brands of toothpaste available for humans. Then why can’t we use them on dogs? It is just Because dogs don’t spit. Your dog will definitely swallow the tooth paste use to clean his teeth. You can buy an edible toothpaste, at the local pet store. And your pet will be happy to let you clean his teeth. It will be a nice tasty treat for your dog. If your dog cries out when you try to cleans his teeth chances are, you may need a help just to clean his teeth.
Cleaning your pet’s teeth is not that heard, you will only need the right supplies. A doggie toothpaste, a doggie toothbrush, a nubby-surfaced rubber doggie cap, a doggie wash cloth or a piece of gauze wrapped around your index finger.
Position yourself so that you can get into your dog’s teeth easily. Lift your dog’s upper lips and start brushing in a circular manner, just like the way you would brush your teeth. Be sure to brush where the dog’s tooth meets the gum-line. Don’t forget to get every molar, since this is where your dog is where likely to start the problems. When you are done the upper jaw, move on lower jaw.
A piece of advice, try to check your dogs teeth every time you would groom him. Brush your dog’s teeth at least twice week and have it checked at least once a year by your trusted veterinarian. If your dogs have significant tarter build up on their teeth, they may be a for cleaning.
